Nourishing the body

Image
I wrote the following a few weeks ago during a discussion about diet and nutrition. I include it here as a premise to nourishing the body on the  Camino ‘Each person in the world has a unique constitution for diet, health and lifestyle that supports them. And this does not remain static in their lives, it changes throughout just as the seasons change and everything else changes'. We are familiar with the yin and yang symbol, this symbol implies perfect balance but there is movement within this. Sometimes more yang sometimes more yin, yet through the totality and interconnectivity in life we ultimately find this balance. So for example, in a world of war we need more peace to balance.  So following a strict dietary plan cannot serve us fully, there needs to be a deeper understanding of ultimately ourselves and our own bodies needs in a constantly changing landscape. This is the beauty and magic of life. What do you need to begin to understand? Firstly, it must be tru...

The necessaties including the luxuries

This is not an exhaustive list, rather a review of the critical things I needed to maintain my health and vigour.  For my Camino I opted to book accomodation ahead and have main luggage transported each day meaning I was carrying a day back with an average of 5-6 kgs. But the Camino is all about reducing our baggage and on this note it became apparent very quickly I didn’t need most of the clothes I had brought. This gave rise to an interesting reflection, what are our basic needs, and how it feels to use everything you have without surplus ‘stuff’ cluttering our lives. It brings freedom, pure and simple. I have an enduring image in my mind of a photo of Steve Jobs sitting in a room on the floor in his lounge room, in what we would call an unfurnished room. What if we could strip away our excessive ‘stuff’. Does a decluttered life lead to a decluttered mind? 1. Yoga Mat. So a Yogini does not travel without her yoga mat is a given but let’s revise the yoga mat. I use a rubber ma...

The Calling

Image
Like most things in a Yogini life, walking the Camino de Santiago began as a calling, a feeling. And as we become more aligned we know to always trust the feeling and only allow the thinking mind to put what needs to be done into action rather than let it throw us into doubt or negativity. And when you follow this feeling and trust it completely the universe magically comes in to support you. So on 9th August 2018 I found myself in Paris ready to board the train to St Jean pied de Port, the beginning of my Yogini Camino 2018. Each Yogini is as individual as any other being. Our Ayurvedic doshas, our personal and individual likes and dislikes, yet being a Yogini gives rise to many similarities. Our choice of lifestyle is invariably one of health to nourish body, mind and heart❣ And these writings are not only for the Yogini walking the Camino, they are for each and every one of us, as we learn how our feet carry us through this lifetime and how we carry ourselves. Buen Camino, Me...
